Lesson 4 - Planning and Delivery - 07/03/23

Plans:

  • Editing experiments on the last image they uploaded.

  • Asking what they have planned for their poster and planning how to execute it.

  • Create the banner for nurture space - print letter outlines at uni - source paper, paints and pens from the art room there.

  • Tell them to bring their objects next week and we will photograph them.

The Lesson:

We got to class and discussed our plans with Jenny. She liked them and we begun working out the trip to Napier University. She said she would organise it for either Thursday 23rd or 30th of March.

We asked the pupils which object they had thought of over the last two weeks that represents nurture to them and we made a list. Most pupil's struggled to think of one until they were encouraged but in the end everyone but two out of the eleven came up with an idea (see below).

The pupils got paints, oil pastels and pencils from the art room and began decorating a letter each, in any way they wanted. There were 11 pupils so some letters were doubled so we'll have to choose which to use. Some examples of the work are seen below. Some had time to think of ideas for objects and we chatted with pupils. The act of painting was relaxing, engaging and therapeutic. Some pupil's helped Johnny measure the banner spot outside the nurture space and cut it out of big red textured banner paper. Then the fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate the building so we couldn't do the handprint background we'd planned in B&W. We will start the lesson doing this next week and sticking the letters on. We had to leave straight away after so will message Jenny to remind the pupils, throughout the week, to bring thir objects in .

We've structured the rest of the lessons from this point so we can deliver the final outcome and get dates set to work around Easter holidays and their exam weeks.

Future plans are:

Lesson 5 -

  • Finish any letters off

  • Paint background of banner & stick letters on

  • Set up backgrounds so they can photograph the objects they bring in/ drawings

  • Let them upload the images and do any edits

  • WRITE their reason for the object so that can be displayed too - decide with pupils wether they want to handwrite or print (re anonymity).

Lesson 6 -

  • EDIT AT SCHOOL AND FINALISE (Ideally this will be complete in lesson 5 and this lesson will either be the uni trip or a day when me and Emily can print at university ready for the week after instead of visiting their school).

Lesson 7 -

  • MARY-ANN supervise this one so she can say she's seen us on placement.

  • WE NEED THE GOOGE-CLASSROOM IMAGES for workbook.

  • TRIP to uni - shoot in studio and print here - we will need coloured top.

EASTER - source frames and plan snacks and drinks and any areas for the pupils for all their hard work. (maybe related to their work since the start too, printed in a wee book for them to keep? Their name and the year for eg on the front and some kind words for them to remember they are worthy etc).

Lesson 8 -

  • Frame (Ask Lindsay re payment?) their prints at school and hang with students - think do they want a wee exhibition - friends and family come to see it with snacks and drinks.

THEY HAVE EXAMS AFTER THIS WEEK SO WE WILL FINISH AFTER THIS.
