Lesson 2 - Plans and Delivering - 07/02/23

Updated: Feb 22, 2023

Plans:

Lesson 2:

We arrived after a £41 Uber. We asked the class to choose three images they took from last week to show us. Some pupils were happy to show them to the class but for some we went around separately. We asked the pupils why they liked the image and helped with prompts if they were stuck. They understood what they'd learnt last lesson and had good eyes for it. There were some new pupils so we went over briefly the things we taught in lesson 1. We went through the lesson 2 PowerPoint all about portraiture, asking the pupils questions such as, "do you think this is natural lighting?" and "how many coloured lights are on this studio portrait?". We let them continue/ for the new pupils try with the studio boxes and objects from lesson 1 in pairs. They were so eager to photograph again. Those who seemed less motivated we tasked with studio portraiture using the backdrop and lights that the room has - they were motivated and enjoyed this. After rotating groups so everyone got a chance to experiment with the studio portraiture, we took two groups at a time into the windowed corridor of the school and practised with natural lighting. One group decided not to try portraiture and bought their box to do natural light experiments. We rounded off the lesson by saying that if they wanted to photograph over the half term they are welcome to show us afterwards.

Portraiture PowerPoint:

They have a half-term break so we will visit them next on the 21st of February. We will discuss ideas of what Nurture is with them and begin learning basic DSLR camera skills.
